I am a design ethnographer exploring urban transformation through participatory and post-anthropocentric methods. In my current postdoc at the Bern Academy of the Arts, I investigate how cultural probes can open insights into contemporary Swiss building culture. In my doctoral thesis (2018-2024) at the Institute for Sociology and Cultural Organisation at Leuphana University Lüneburg, I observed urban living labs in the rural areas of North-Eastern Germany and analysed how they mobilise design as an agent of eco-social change. My research is published in the field of design anthropology with a recent chapter in the Design&Culture Journal (2022), in the anthology Power in Transformation (2025), and in the STS Encounters journal. I was a research assistant in the artistic research project Shift Register at the Critical Media Lab in Basel (2016-2018), and was a junior researcher on the SNSF-funded project Commons in Design at the Academy of Art and Design Basel (2018-2023). In 2021, I was a researcher in residence at the Critical Maker Laboratory at TU/UDK Berlin (2021), and visiting researcher at the Center for Invention and Social Process at Goldsmiths, University of London (2022). Until 2025, I was a research associate in the department of Urban Planning and Regional Development at Hafen City University Hamburg, analyzing the transition governance of maker spaces. To support the design research community in Germany, I am a board member at the German Society for Design Research and Theory (DGTF) and I co-organize the bi-annual colloquium design:promoviert .
